Eyelid Surgery Q&A
What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery performed to restore the eyelids to their more youthful, rejuvenated appearance by removing excess skin, fat, and/or tissue. This procedure can help remove signs of aging, such as the skin stretching and weakening around the eyes, causing a droopy appearance. Dr. Lin can perform a blepharoplasty on the upper eyelid, lower eyelid or both.
How does a blepharoplasty work?
Before the procedure, Dr. Lin will carefully mark the incision site, following the natural creases of the upper or lower eyelids. After making the incision, she will remove excess skin and reattach loose eye muscle if necessary. The incisions are then closed with sutures, leaving almost no visible scars. Patients may experience redness and swelling following the surgery, but side effect should subside within a few weeks. Dr. Lin takes great pride in ensuring that the results are natural looking.
What is an Asian double eyelid procedure?
Some people of Asian descent do not have defined creases on their eyelids. The goal of Asian eyelid surgery is to create a natural fold in the eyelid to appear more vibrant and rejuvenated.
What are the benefits of eyelid surgery?
Some benefits include:
- Reduce puffiness around the eyelids
- Remove sagging and loose skin
- Eliminate bags under the eyes
- Rotate eyelashes to point away from eyeball
- Correct excessive tearing
