Dr. Yong is a board certified refractive and cataract surgeon who specializes in advanced techniques in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, premium intraocular lens surgery, laser vision correction (LASIK/PRK), corneal collagen cross-linking for keratoconus, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and anterior segment reconstruction. Dr. Yong’s clinical interests also include dry eye syndrome and ocular surface reconstruction for mechanical dry eye.
Dr. Yong received her undergraduate degree from UCLA and her medical degree from Brown University. She went on to complete her internship at Yale, residency at New York Medical College, and fellowship at Harvard Medical School – Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. She is fluent in Korean. Dr. Yong also serves on a board examination content revision committee for the American Board of Ophthalmology, in which she reviews cataract knowledge assessment criteria for ophthalmologists seeking board certification.
Dr. Yong has been fascinated by the workings of the eye since a young age. “The eye acts as a portal to provide clues into what may be going on in the body as a whole,” she explained. “That’s when I knew ophthalmology was the right field for me.” In her free time, Dr. Yong enjoys writing reviews for restaurants and spending time with her daughter, Josephine.
